Bogner Uberkab

I have done extensive cabinet tone quests, and this rear-loaded Bogner Uberkab has been my number 1 cab for years! We can share its tonal goodness with this set of impulse responses (IRs). Instead of burdening you with hundreds or thousands of unusable mic placements and combinations, you’re getting 10 mix-ready IRs for instant results. BONUS: I've also added my Ampeg 8X10 IR captured with a Shure Beta 52A.

User Guide:

  • V30 1 & 2 are the most aggressive and forward sounding. These were made with my favorite SM57 on two sweet spots of the best sounding UK Celestion Vintage 30 in the cab. These are my favorite for heavy rhythm guitar double tracking.
  • V30 3 & 4 were recorded in the same positions as 1 & 2 but with a different SM57 that is a little smoother on the high end and more balanced sounding.
  • Cream 1 & 2 are two different 57s on the sweet spot of the Celestion M 65 Creamback. The Creamback sounds awesome for classic rock and clean sounds.
  • The “Mic Blend” IRs are a combination of a close mic 57 on the Vintage 30 and a Microphone Parts T-47 further from the cab getting the full speaker blend. Mic Blend 1 has more of the condenser in the mix than Mic Blend 2. Both sound great for lead guitar.
  • V30+Cream 1 has an equal blend of the close mic’ed V30 and Creamback. V30+Cream 2 has the V30 more prominent in the speaker blend.

More on the Cab:
If you know your Uberkabs, you are probably wondering, “where’s the Celestion G12T-75?” While the G12T-75 blends wonderfully in a live setting, I’ve found it difficult to get an inspiring tone from close micing one in the studio. You are still getting a little bit of this speaker in the “Mic Blend” IRs because the condenser is capturing the combination of the two V30s, one Creamback, and one T75.

More on the Method:
All IRs were captured using a neutral power amp and the DON Classics NV73 preamp (Neve 1073 clone).

File Format:
All IRs are 24 bit / 96 kHz resolution WAV files with a decay tail of 250ms. If your rig needs a lower resolution file, you can easily load these into your DAW and export to your required file format. If you're not sure if you can make this format work for your needs, test out the free IR above before purchasing a whole pack. There are no returns on these impulse responses.
